ST.NICHOLAS SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH SCHOOL - HISTORY

The Church School of the St.Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church was founded in 1950. The first teachers and organizers of the school were Dorothy Milivojac, Yovanka Savich, and Steve Yerich. Dorothy taught elementary and Yovanka and Steve taught high school until they retired from the Indianapolis Public Schools. Under their leadership, through the years regular Sunday Church School classes have been held. Annually the Church School observes the feast day of St. Sava with a special program honoring the patron saint of the schools and children.

ACTIVITIES

Church School classes are held each Sunday, after Holy Communion, from the second Sunday in September through the month of May. We break for the winter - between the middle of December to the begining of February. Throughout the year the children enjoy many outings including summer picnics, fall festivals, visits to the zoo and museums, and bowling. Throughout our Church School our children grow in greater knowledge and understanding of our Orthodox Christian faith and Serbian Heritage, learning to become future leaders of our Holy Orthodox Church. The school staff is directed by our parish priest. Parents are involved in many extra-curricular activities during the year. All work together to lead our children along the path of knowledge and Christian fellowship and love.
